The San Benedetto Abate private nursery school has been present in Modena since 1974, coordinated by the Parish of the same name. Since January 2023, management has been entrusted to the Opara Pia Pini Santa Caterina Foundation. The school is inspired by a Christian concept of life, the person and education.
It is registered with the FISM of Modena (Italian Federation of Nursery Schools), is included in the National Education System, offers a public service and collaborates with local and national educational agencies: FISM, District No. 3 Sant'Agnese district, Municipality of Modena, Province, Region, Office XII for the territorial area of Modena, Ministry of Education, Community Paediatrics Service, SIAN (Hygiene, Food and Nutrition Service) and AUSL of Modena.
It promotes the development of identity, autonomy and skills in children and initiates them towards citizenship.
In the months of June-August 2011 the school was renovated and expanded as required by current legislation relating to school buildings. The six sections are divided by centers of interest and structured corners that allow teachers to set up an educational action that enhances the small group, cooperative learning, negotiation of meanings, respect for each other's thoughts, friendships and free play. The materials available are suitable for the activities and diversified.
The sections, once again structured into corners, allow the teachers to create a teaching/learning relationship that is decidedly in favor of the latter, in which the teachers manage the spaces, materials and times, listening and orienting their intervention based on the abilities that the children demonstrate to help them become skills.
